The Battista is the most powerful contender ever to come to Car of the Year, a remarkable automotive statement and one that few people will ever get to see, let alone drive. Named for the founder of the design house that bears his surname, the Battista EV hypercar debuted in 2019 and was released in 2022. Designed by Luca Borgogno, it is constructed at Bugatti Rimac in Croatia and finished at Pininfarina facilities in Italy. A carbon fiber monocoque chassis and bodywork conceal a 120kW battery pack from Rimac Automobili, which drives four motors, one at each wheel. Only 150 units are planned; 40 percent of which were spoken for before production began. With otherworldly performance and looks, the Battista is one of very few hypercars to achieve classic status right out of the gate.
