Audi’s RS 7 Performance may be the ultimate stealth sedan. While it’s the most extreme of the 7 Series, its civilized and docile demeanor reminds us that a well-rounded automotive personality is a welcome sidekick for real-world driving. But make no mistake, the RS 7 Performance will peel the paint off most other cars. Exterior styling—especially with the optional 22-inch wheels—is assertive but not overbearing. And while its powertrain is anything but restrained, the understated interior is—as tasteful and well-appointed as it is finely crafted. The standard Virtual Cockpit Plus is a useful digital display framed by the flat-bottomed steering wheel that, along with excellent sport seats, remind the driver that this is no ordinary Audi. It’s not a light one either, but added pounds are the price to pay for a full-featured, safe and substantial performance sedan.
